EPISODE TRANSCRIPT
Lanée Blaise [00:00:02]:
Welcome to Imagine yourself. I'm Lanee.
Sandy Kovach [00:00:05]:
And this is Sandy, and this is our very first little 5 minute motivation that we're gonna do in between episodes and talk about Some of the things that we took away from our last guest, and our last guest was Mia Pace, who was a fabulous guest talking about getting our house in order. It was more than getting our house in order, though, wasn't it, Lynne?
Lanée Blaise [00:00:30]:
It was all about she is on on a lifted home. And she's talking about it's that reflection of your home and your life. Lots of times people would even say, like, you know, if your house is messy or your room is messy or your desk is messy, it makes your mind feel cluttered. And she really went in to a different level. And even the part about if your home is beautiful and if your surroundings are beautiful, it makes your life feel Beautiful. And so we just really wanted to revisit all of that and kinda give an update on what we've learned since the episode aired.
Sandy Kovach [00:01:09]:
Right. And it's all about the little things that you can do. And she talked about being your own guest, and she talked about her childhood and how when the company was coming over, they did special prepare for company. And, of course, you know, we can relate to that. We all do that straighten things up. We clean things up. We get things ready. But what about treating our self life company? It can even be something like a small candle. And I really got convicted when she was like, why do you have all those candles? Aren't you gonna light them? I mean, what are they there for? And so I have this candle as Yankee candle called Darkberries. And you've never smelled anything better in your entire life, at least in my opinion. So what do I do in my studio now? I have my little dark berries candle, and it just motivates me. It just makes me feel like, hey, I'm home. I have the warm fuzzies. Does that make sense?
Lanée Blaise [00:01:59]:
It makes sense, and it makes me think something else that she told us because I have my own little category of this also with throw blanket. decorative throw blankets that are just supposed to lay across the couch in a beautiful way.
Lanée Blaise [00:02:13]:
I'm not supposed to actually use them or touch them. I mean, you know, we live in So it is cold here. She's in New York also, but she said use those blankets. And I can always drink them back over the couch later but use your belongings. Use your stuff because if you don't use it, you'll lose it. Right? And this really hit home with me on so many elements. I remember there was this Anne Landers or dear Abby or something about how they had these candles that they were so in love with, and they never burn them and use them. And one day, because they eventually made their way to the attic, those things had melted. into nothing. So they never got to enjoy them. And we just don't want to let that happen to us. And we don't want that to happen to you listeners. there either, you know, to make sure that you're using it. And then there's the organizing piece of all of this too, Sandy. So she specializes in home decor. but she also does professional organizing. And we had another professional organizer Nadia Odette from essential living. And both of these ladies taught me so much about the importance of organization and the beauty of it. And we don't have to do it all the time all day. to take those few moments out is really beneficial.
Sandy Kovach [00:03:32]:
Taking some time to just get things straight. There's the whole getting rid of clutter. And I remember Mia said, don't feel like you have to throw everything out and be a minimalist. Just have a great way to organize your stuff. and be able to find your stuff. Some people need to go in and just, like, throw things out and donate other things and go through their things. And other people just might need a little bit of, okay. I need a little place to put my keys. We have a box now, like, right by the front door. where sunglasses, keys, and, you know, all that stuff goes.
Lanée Blaise [00:04:08]:
And make it pretty. Like, make it cute or even I mean, if you're a creative person, paint the box. or, you know, stencil the box or do something cool and cute to make it your own and make it fun. Also, little systems that I have implemented This was since we spoke with Nadia Odette, but this was one where I keep, in this case, is not pretty, but I keep a trash bag in, like, the backside of my closet. And anytime I try on something and just I know in my heart, I will never ever ever wear this again. It is either horrible or tight or torn. There's a Well, if it's torn, I have to throw in the trash. But if it's something that someone else can be blessed by, I put it in the bag, and then I accumulate enough so that I can put it on my front porch and have Salvation army or Vietnam veterans come and pick it up and use it to bless somebody else. It makes it very convenient for me. So convenience, beauty, organization, all of these things. Not only did we learn, but we've been starting to put it into practice. For my birthday, I want you to get me that deep berries candle. It sounds sexy.
Sandy Kovach [00:05:18]:
So I would recommend people go to if they want more information. First of all, our last episode with Mia from the lifted home, 5 ways. What was the name of the episode?
