Lanée Blaise00:00:24 - 00:01:04
I'm Lanee here Sandy, and we just want to invite you into this bonus episode where we are really going to Take a second look and see how we have progressed since we heard the episode. Is it finally time to make your dream a reality? And, Sandy, have you been marinating on everything that you learned from Bianca Sloane? Because she had truly a wealth of information. It was not just surface level cliche stuff. She gave very specific and detailed instructions On how to get from, like, point a to point b, from your dream to your reality. What do you think about all that?
Sandy Kovach00:01:04 - 00:01:51
I totally have been marinating it on it. And that's a great point that you made about not just surface level stuff. Because I'm the 1st person that loves a good motivational quote, and those are nice. But they can be a little bit cliche and pie in the sky sometimes. When you hear the story about Bianca who literally had given up And then picked it back up and decided, here's what I'm gonna do and took us through the steps, which, of course, she is a novelist, and they were specific to what she was doing, but it was really super easy to apply it to, like, any dream that you would have. And I the reason that we did this episode again is because of the different virtual options people are having in 2021 and just doors opening. And I know for you, that's been huge. Right?
Lanée Blaise00:01:51 - 00:02:52
It's been huge. In fact, it is one of those things where I was able to make some lemonade out of some lemons. Because in the case with the pandemic, there was so much being done virtually, Bianca Sloan took her example, like you said, with her life. And she talked about when you're really trying to get to your reality, you need to stop for a second and think about what can I do differently in my life? And so some of that was answered automatically with people because of the pandemic. You've had to do something differently. And even that part, like I said, about virtually, she mentioned that you should really try to hone in on your craft or or your business or whatever it is and learn as much as you can. I really took advantage of webinars to help me learn more and more about the industries that I was interested in. And in my case too, with the entertainment industry, it became a wonderful, easy way to network and connect with people virtually.
Lanée Blaise00:02:52 - 00:03:22
I don't have To fly to LA, I don't have to fly to New York. I'm able to you know, I mean, we always had the telephone, but I'm able to use Zoom in order to pitch projects, in order to connect with people and network, and that was one of the things that I was able to do differently and able to reach out to the right people, because that's another takeaway that I took from her entire episode. Reach out to the right people school. Very intentionally. Don't use people. You know, try to make it a win win, but that is truly my takeaway.
Sandy Kovach00:03:23 - 00:04:02
And I know that you've made some really good connections lately and have had some big breakthroughs for your TV writing. I have something kind of a little bit different. I was thinking about how Some of the things that have happened lately with my voice over and how that kinda related to what Bianca taught us. For voice over people, the biggest thing that they do is probably audition. Audition, audition, audition, audition, audition. And you have to do a lot of auditions in order to get jobs. I mean, you get some jobs through people you know, and, you know, and I also have clients that come back and I've worked with. But if you're ever gonna get new business, A lot of the times, you know, you have to audition.
Sandy Kovach00:04:02 - 00:04:35
And sometimes it can be overwhelming because, you know, you can do, like, 50 auditions and get maybe 2 jobs. Right? So it it teaches you persistence. And one of the first things you learn is never to take it personally. You just have to keep pitching, and it's kinda like what Bianca did. She just kept pitching and pitching and pitching. So that was one of the things. And the other thing is in the past month or so, there's a couple of really big jobs that I landed where I remember being able to feel the audition. I really believed that I was the person for this role, whether it was, like I think 1 was a mom character and 1 was, a corporate role.
Sandy Kovach00:04:35 - 00:05:02
But There was some secret sauce going on, some belief in myself going on in there. And even though that's not gonna be enough to land every job or anything, it's gonna be based on whether you're the right energy or voice age or whatever the client might be looking for. But I do think it has summer application here, not just for little things like, in my case, voiceovers, but also for a bigger dream, a bigger goal, a bigger vision.
Lanée Blaise00:05:03 - 00:05:40
I think you have nailed it, Sandy, because even though this was not mentioned in the previous episode, as far as I think you've merged the concept of Visualizing what you want for your life and then putting it with real true hard work and preparation And making that combination because we started off this episode right now talking about how you don't want it to just be surface level. And sometimes people Might get the impression that when you say, oh, just visualize it and it'll come true, you have kind of put that recipe where you visualize it. Yes. And you prepare for it. And, you know, you truly put that work into it, and then it comes true
Sandy Kovach00:05:40 - 00:05:41
Yeah. Right.
Lanée Blaise00:05:41 - 00:05:42
Might be the key. You know? Mhmm.
Sandy Kovach00:05:42 - 00:06:03
Yeah. Visualizing it and believing. And I think Bianca said that too. It's like believing that you can do this. Sometimes I'll hit an audition, and I know it's not for me. But I'll audition anyway just for the practice. But sometimes I'm I'm like, you know, I can't do this. This they need somebody that's got more skills or sometimes it is about believing you're the person for it.
Lanée Blaise00:06:03 - 00:07:15
Yeah. You've possibly gotta be careful that we don't talk ourselves out of something And end up making that be the truth in that case too and not believing she said that, you know, we have to believe in ourselves, and that does follow through. That does show through and shine through to others. So I just really encourage everyone listening to how about this?
